I was thinking about Thomas The Tank Engine with Ringo Starr as narrator and i happened to remember other television shows i loved as a child.

It was about Joshua, a feller who lived on a boat and he would go up and down a canal.
Fireman Sam
I would watch this along with other animated shows similar such as postman pat and joshua jones as above.
