Okanagan Lake Provincial Park

Having not hit a golf ball in over 5 months due to Hernia Surgery, i spent an hour this morning at the Driving Range having a swing at 50 balls for $7 at the Two Eagles Golf Course in West Kelowna. The Driving Range has a very nice view of Lake Okanagan and the surrounding Mountains.

Okanagan Lake Provincial Park

Located halfway between Peachland and Summerland you will find Okanagan Lake Provincial Park. Just off Highway 97, the major arterial road along Okanagan Lake, this Provincial Park offers North and South Campgrounds, great views of the Lake and Lake access for those hot days of summer.

Today though, i wasn’t looking for a place to sleep, nor was i looking to cool down in the fresh waters of the lake, the weather being overcast and a bit cool. Today i was here to take a walk through the Provincial Park, a whole 1 km of park, that seperates the North and South Campgrounds. The Upper Trail is a gentle stroll with some stairs that might make it hard for some but overall, it’s fairly flat. There is lots of fauna along the trail and you will have plenty of opportunity to see birds. Being parallel to the highway, the traffic noise does affect the serenity of the upper trail but not so much that it makes it un-worthwhile. I didn’t venture down to the shoreline so can’t comment on if the road noise can be heard down there. This little hike isn’t for the hardcore adventurer looking to put there strength and fitness to there maximum but you will find amongst the trees a wonderful example of what life in the Okanagan is really like. Find more pictures of the trail here in my Flickr Album.
