Three Mile Beach

Three Mile Beach

Today's photo comes from Three Mile Beach, north of Penticton. This place is one of my favorite beaches to go to in the region due to its clothing optional section beyond the willow tree. This beach offers friendly people, great swimming and when the sun comes out, lovely sun tanning.

I LOVE MY GIRLFRIEND!!! On her recent visit to Los Angeles, she was good enough to buy us a new lens for our camera. A Canon 75mm-300mm lens!!
Now i can get closer to Animals that go about there daily lives and other photos usually unobtainable with my current lens. So we now have an 18-55mm and the new lens, 75-300mm.

Here's hoping i can turn out some great photos now. Stay Tuned...

Beach Avenue, Peachland

2011-05-28 15.35.05

This is taken on the beach at Peachland. The beach here is of the rock kind and was quiet today as the weather wasn't all that warm and sunny today. We had the odd occasion of sunshine which felt quite warm when it came out of hiding behind the clouds.

Trepenair Forest

Trepenair Forest

Today's photo comes from the 24th May, 2011.
The morning started out overcast and there was a prediction of rain, of which we got none. I had some free time for a hike with my camera and tripod and was able to get at least one photo i liked. This is a great little hike that takes you through Trepenair Forest and along Trepenair Creek.

How to make a homemade sports drink

This was sent to me by a Nutritionist regarding sports drinks. This was in regards to long distance events.

The primary function of a hydrating beverage is to preserve and retain water in the body. There is strong evidence that a cold, flavored sport drink of suitable composition encourages drinking making it a highly effective way to prevent dehydration.. Homemade sports drinks, if mixed properly, can provide the same benefits as the commercial versions. However, it can be difficult to replicate your favorite store bought varieties.

You must include the proper concentration of the carbohydrate as well as sufficient sodium to actively work with the carbohydrate to provide quick re-hydration.

Considering this, it is imperative that the ingredients are measured accurately as not to hinder rather than heighten performance.

The carbohydrate concentration should be in the range of 4-8 percent. That is 40g-80g carbohydrate per liter of water. A concentration of over 8 percent will interfere with re-hydration.

Sodium levels should range from 20-30mmol, that is 1g-2g of table salt per liter of water.

Any flavor added should not take away from the carbohydrate level of 8 percent.

Adding 3 Tbsp of corn syrup to a 750 ml bottle of water is a great way to re-hydrate your body. Also, try one of these great recipes for an effective sports drink at home for little cost.

Recipe #1

500ml fruit juice drink (not pure juice) e.g., Blackcurrant juice drink, Fruit blast, Five alive
500ml water
1/3 tsp salt

Recipe #2

1/2 cup orange juice
9 tsp sugar
3/8 tsp salt
2 liters water

Recipe #3

1 caffeine free lemon tea bag
16 oz water
2 Tbsp sugar
1/8 tsp salt
4 Tbsp orange juice

Bring water to a boil. Steep lemon tea bag. Dissolve sugar and salt in the tea and let stand. Add orange juice and chill.

Recipe #4

4 Tbsp sugar
tsp salt
cup boiling water
cup orange juice or 2 Tbsp lemon juice
3- cup cold water

In a pitcher dissolve sugar and salt in hot water. Add juice and remaining water. Chill.

World Of Wheels

Yesterday was the 14th Annual World of Wheels Car show in Peachland. The weather overnight was poor but the days weather turned out quite nicely and the show was able to go on. Overall 405 cars entered in the car show many of which were classic cars, some modern cars and a handful of antique cars. For the town of Peachland, the event is a very big one and is very helpful to the local economy as several thousand people swarm into the town for the festivities.

Parking for the event is a big problem and is something that they will always will have issues with especially considering where it is located. Located on the beach with very minimal parking, we had to walk almost a kilometer from our car, our spot being very dubious on a muddy looking landfill area (God bless 4wd) but if you look on the positive side, the walk is along the beach and is quite enjoyable. Even with the parking issues, the event was very nice, with food vendors and live music, nice cars, nice weather and lovely location, what more could you ask for?

New Photos

I have just added some new photos to my “Australian Flickr Photostream” from my trip to Australia. I have picked out my favorites, what do you think?

I have included a Sunset Photo from Albury, NSW as i totally love sunsets. I was luckily able to capture this image using just a Kodak Point and shoot camera and it turned out really well. Also included are photos from the Great Ocean Road Coastline in Victoria. In all i added 16 photos.

Back at home

It’s amazing how life changes but still things stay the same. Having arrived home after being away for just little over a year, i entered my bedroom for which i spent a great part of my life of the last four years. It was strange how over the last year, i have changed, life has changed and yet walking back into that room brings with it a feeling that nothing has changed. It was still the same room. I have changed in ways that i would never have imagined. I have matured in many ways, becoming who i am right now. I now hold more independence then i ever have before, working at a job that i like doing, living in a house that i like and must keep operational. These things in my life have changed me for the better, yet the basics of my life haven’t changed.

My family still lives here and that hasn’t changed. Dad is still his usual loving, overly-caring self, as is Mum. Being back home reminds me how much i love them and that i did truly miss them over the year but this is my life, i also love my life and wouldn’t have changed anything over the last year.
My Bike sat in the corner of my room, looking lovely in its blue shiny paint. This bike is one of my prized possessions, the only new bike i have ever owned that Santa hasn’t brought me. I remember that bike and when i looked at that bike, it brought back the joy of the first day i bought it and my first ride on it and how much i love a good bike ride. That hasn’t changed. Not one bit. Hopefully the bike arrives safely in Canada with me and there can be plenty more lovely bike rides to be had with me and my blue Avanti Stallion.
Life has changed dramatically for me in the last year. I’ve gone from feeling that my future looked solemn and useless to now feeling that i could live this life forever. I have a girlfriend that i love dearly and a cat that adores me and i adore him, occasionally. I have job that i like doing, that provides me with some financial security and the simple luxuries of my life. I also live in a house that i feel happy to call home, where i can get lost in the mountains, where no one knows my name, where i can be myself , yet i’m so close to the city and lake that i can make my life as busy as much as i want.

Livestrong.

Family of Four (Deer)

Living where i Live, i have a whole assortment of wild life that take up residence near my house. In particular there is a family of Four Deer that i often see hanging around. These photos were snapped from my Living Room using a 55mm Lens. I'm thinking of adding a 300mm lens to my set to get some nicer wildlife shots.
