The Rolling Stones

A song i've always loved.

Angie, angie, when will those clouds all disappear?
Angie, angie, where will it lead us from here?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You cant say were satisfied
But angie, angie, you cant say we never tried
Angie, youre beautiful, but aint it time we said good-bye?
Angie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried?
All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear:
Angie, angie, where will it lead us from here?
Oh, angie, dont you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But angie, angie, aint it time we said good-bye?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You cant say were satisfied
But angie, I still love you, baby
Evrywhere I look I see your eyes
There aint a woman that comes close to you
Come on baby, dry your eyes
But angie, angie, aint it good to be alive?
Angie, angie, they cant say we never tried

TaeBo Billy Blanks style

I downloaded a Taebo workout the other day to do some fitness. I found the warm up on Youtube for anyone interested. Here is the first 10 minutes of a 45 minute workout. If you are willing try the first 10 minutes of this workout and see how far you can get through it. I made it through about 12 minutes the first time i tried it and the second time i tried it i made it to about 20 minutes before my legs gave up.

This is part 1 of 5. The other parts can be found in the Related Video section of Youtube. This is Taebo Cardio and it really got my cardio working as well as testing out my muscles. A very fun workout but i am not too coordinated to get some of the moves correct. With more practice i'm sure i can get it.

Rupert Holmes - Escape

Song of the day goes to Rupert Holmes - Escape. This is for those warm hot days down on the beach. A very cool song to chill out to. Love the little twist at the end of this song, very fun.

I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape."
I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad.
"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."
So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..
"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

When i listen to the radio, i listen to 3AW which is an AM News Talk Station. I enjoy listening to Neil Mitchell in the mornings. 3AW is a Melbourne station and is telecast here in Albury on 2AY 1494 AM.

What i like about Neil Mitchell is the discussion about the latest news Topics. It is very thought provoking and gives me time to think about things.

For 3AW - I listen to it over the internet here. http://www.1radio.com.au/vic/melbourne/3aw

This was taken from --->Dirt World http://www.dirtworld.com/trails/traillist.asp?id=5

From :http://travel.latimes.com/destinations/los-angeles/clm/activities/bike-rides
The best place to mountain bike is along the trails of Malibu Creek State Park (tel. 818/880-0367), in the Santa Monica Mountains between Malibu and the San Fernando Valley in Calabasas. Fifteen miles of trails rise to a maximum of 3,000 feet and are appropriate for intermediate to advanced bikers. Pick up a trail map at the park entrance, 4 miles south of U.S. 101 off Las Virgenes Road, just north of Mulholland Highway. Park admission is $5 per car. For more information on mountain bike trails in the L.A. region, log on to www.latrails.com.

Spokes 'N Stuff Bike Rental has two locations: 4175 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey (tel. 310/306-3332), which is only open on weekends, and 1715 Oceanfront Walk, behind Loews Hotel, Santa Monica (tel. 310/395-4748), which is open every day. They rent 10-speed cruisers for $7 per hour and $16 per day; 15-speed mountain bikes rent for $8 per hour and $20 per day. Another good Santa Monica rental shop is Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals (Santa Monica Pier; tel. 310/393-9778). The rates are about the same as those at Spokes 'N Stuff. Be sure to ask for a free self-guided tour map (it's really handy).

In Hollywood, Hollywood Pro Bicycles (6731 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood; tel. 888/775-BIKE or 323/466-5890; www.hollywoodprobicycles.com) rents mountain bikes at $25 for a 24-hour period and $15 for each additional day. Every rental comes with a free tour map, a safety helmet, a bike lock, and a handlebar bag for storage.

Pink - Stupid Girls

Song of the day is from Pink for no other reason then because i was listening to it. Enjoy.

Stupid girl, stupid girls, stupid girls
Baby if I act like that, that guy will call me back
What a paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Go to Fred Segal, you'll find them there
Laughing loud so all the little people stare
Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne
(Drop a name)
What happened to the dreams of a girl president
Shes dancing in the video next to 50 Cent
They travel in packs of two or three
With their itsy bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees
Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?
Oh where, oh where could they be?
Baby if I act like that, that guy will call me back
What a paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blonde hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
(Break it down now)
Disease's growing, it's epidemic
I'm scared that there ain't a cure
The world believes it and I'm going crazy
I cannot take any more
I'm so glad that I'll never fit in
That will never be me
Outcasts and girls with ambition
That's what I wanna see
Disasters all around
Would despair
Their only concern
Will they **** up my hair
Baby if I act like that, that guy will call me back
What a paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blonde hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
[Interlude]
Oh my god you guys, I totally had more that 300 calories
That was so not sexy, no
Good one, can I borrow that?
*gags* No!
[Vomits]
I WILL BE SKINNY
(Do ya thing, do ya thing, do ya thing)
(I like this, like this, like this)
Pretty will you **** me girl, silly as a lucky girl
Pull my head and suck it girl, stupid girl!
Pretty would u **** me girl, silly as a lucky girl
Pull my head and suck it girl, stupid girl!
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blonde hair back
Push up my bra like that, stupid girl!
Baby if I act like that, that guy will call me back
What a paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blonde hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl

Another July

So another year, another Tour De France. This year there was a lot of interest because of the return from retirement of the champion Lance Armstrong. He is definitely one of my favorites. The reason i started cycling was because of LA. I remember watching the 2005 Tour at the time thinking, yeah this guy is good. I started cycling in 2006 at the end of the Tour.
A few disappointments in this years race though. First off is Mick Rogers who i wanted to see do so well but with no luck he quickly became a domestique riding for the sprinters. Cadel Evans also didn't ride as good as possibly he could have. Having finished 2nd in the last two tours, he was expected to place at least highly.
A good performance though is from Lance, 37 years of age, out of professional cycling for 3 years and to come back and be in the top 5 is a superb effort, cant wait to see him back again next year with his own team and the full support of his team. It's going to be a cracker. I am hoping he will come back to the Tour Down Under in January and i can get to see my idol ride.
A little disappointed that Alberto Contador has pretty much won the race, mainly for the fact that i wanted to see Lance win but also because im not the biggest fan of his. He did prove he was the strongest rider in the race but some of his tactics were pretty disrespectful. Not following team orders is a little crude.
Well anyway, it's still winter here and my riding has suffered a bit. We have had some pretty good rain here which is great because we are still in a serious drought. I hope we have plenty more to come. Our lake has been very low for the last 5 or so summers which hasn't been good for summer fun. No fishing and no water skiing. :( Hopefully with lots more rain we can get back out on the water and enjoy our summer.

Not long now

It is 18 days, 18 hours, 16 minutes and 36 seconds until Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:30:00 AM (Melbourne time)

Current time is

2009-07-23 16:13:24 EST(local time in Melbourne)

Yeah its starting to get exciting, just under 19 days till my first day in America. I have started packing my bags to make sure i don't forget anything that is required.

The Sound of Silence

The Song of the Day is The Sound of Silence from the movie The Graduate.

Hello darkness, my old friend,
Ive come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.
Fools said i,you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whispered in the sounds of silence.

Johnny Cash - Hurt

This song is emotionally intense. Quite an amazing cover of a Nine Inch Nails song. Johnny really made it his own.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go

I hurt myself today,
to see if i still feel,
I focus on the pain,
the only thing thats real,
The needle tears a hole,
the old familiar sting,
try to kill it all away,
but I remember everything,
(Chorus)
what have I become,
my sweetest friend,
everyone i know,
goes away in the end,
and you could have it all,
my empire of dirt,
I will let you down,
I will make you hurt,
I wear this crown of thorns,
upon my liars chair,
full of broken thoughts,
I cannot repair,
beneath the stains of time,
the feelings dissapear,
you are someone else,
I am still right here,
What have I become,
my sweetest friend,
everyone I know,
goes away in the end,
and you could have it all,
my empire of dirt,
I will let you down,
I will make you hurt,
if I could start again,
a million miles away,
I will keep myself,
I would find a way,

Coldplay- Lovers in Japan

Song of the Day

Yeah i love my Coldplay. This is off Viva La Vida.

Lovers, keep on the road you're on
Runners, until the race is run
Soldiers, you've got to soldier on
Sometimes even right is wrong
They are turning my head out
To see what I'm all about
Keeping my head down
To see what it feels like now
But I have no doubt
One day, we are gonna get out
Tonight maybe we're gonna run
Dreaming of the Osaka sun
Ohh ohh...
Dreaming of when the morning comes
They are turning my head out
To see what I'm all about
Keeping my head down
To see what it feels like now
But I have no doubt
One day the sun will come out

MIA

Yeah i've been missing in action on my blog lately, If you don't know why well you really aren't my friend but if you want to be my friend, I'll tell you right now. The month of July for me is Tour de France month. It usually helps give me the motivation to get back out on the bike again. That i have been doing and my bike fitness is starting to come back. This year i plan to make more of an effort to start racing. I will get my base fitness up there before spring and during spring i will start to ramp up the training to be ready for summer racing. Wish me Luck.

Also on at the moment is the Ashes Cricket, Australia vs England. It is being played in England at the moment and i have been enjoying some of the coverage of the cricket before the coverage of the tour. As a kid i always wanted to play for Australia but never got to realise my dream.

And as of today, the 10th of July there is one month till i leave for Melbourne. I booked a flight from Albury to Melbourne today and also booked a motel down there for the night of Monday the 10th.

"Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport"

Folding shirts

So i'm going on holiday and will need to pack my bags soon so i decided to learn to fold tshirts. :-))

This method works pretty well. It took me a little while to get it to work but with some patience i was folding shirts like a pro. You should give it a try. If the below video doesn't work, try this link Fold a shirt

Watch you like a hawk

So this is a hawk in my backyard, sitting on my clothesline. I've never seen one so close up before and it was quite nice to see it. Hopefully it will come back.

I only got to take one photo before the dog scared it away. We get lots of magpies in our backyard too, so I will get some photos of a magpie. I'm not the biggest fan of magpies in the spring. They can draw blood and often scare you when you are concentrating on the road.

"Spring in Australia is magpie season, when a small minority of breeding magpies (almost always males) around the country become aggressive and swoop and attack those who approach their nests, especially bike riders."
